DoubleJointedConvict: Art
I’m currently reading “Raise High the Roofbeam Carpenters/Seymour: An Introduction” by J.D Salinger and it’s gotten me thinking about art. I don’t want to sound cheesy, or emo, or “artsy”, or pretentious, or anything, but I think we’re all artists.
I think that everyone, fundamentally, wants to do one thing, I think we all want to get to the end of our lives knowing we’ve left something beautiful in our wake. Whether that beautiful thing is literature, or music, or a scientific discovery, or a new economic policy, or a child, and whether or not that thing is beautiful to anyone other than its creator is all irrelevant. I think all that matters is that someone finds it beautiful and in finding it beautiful they give it meaning, and they give themselves meaning, and that’s enough. When you begin to feel that you can never create something that you believe to be beautiful you stop feeling as if you mean something.
